"mi pona" is a phrase from the constructed language toki pona.
Literally translated, it means "I'm pona," where pona can mean okay, good, simple, right, correct, positive, fine, right, or "thank you." There are ways to distinguish between the meanings, but I'm deliberately leaving it ambiguous.
"I'm fine" is a phrase my loved ones know to look out for. It's usually a lie, and I usually say it when I'm not fine at all and just want to be left alone about it.
"I'm good" is my way of saying "I know there's a problem, but I'm working on it."
"I'm simple" is my plan to get better. Simple items, simple plans, simple pleasures. Simple progress.
"I'm right" is my attitude. I'm not saying that the world is possibly sick, or that our consumerism is probably crushing us as a people. They are, and I know the antidotes.
"I'm positive" is my outlook. Every day more people wake up to this reality, and every day the tools to deal with it get better and better. There's room for hope now, and more room every day.
"I thank you" is my message now. Your witness, attention, and hopefully accompaniment on this journey is invaluable, and deserving of my gratitude. Now and always.
